Hollywood
Back in Tucson, having a red-nosed pit bull seems to be all the rage-and my neighbor was no exception. I remember first meeting his little 3 month old pit puppy when she escaped from his yard and came over to play with me and my boxer, Chance. She would escape frequently and come over for play dates-it always broke my heart when I had to bring her back. She was SO full of life and loved people so much.
Several months passed without seeing her. I would frequently hear her yelping and barking when her owner would chase her around his yard with the ATV. I was scared for her, but there wasnt anything I could do.
FINALLY, she got out and came back over to see me. I noticed she was infested with ticks and incredibly thin. That was it! I walked over to his house and told him I was taking her to my work (i worked at a kennel) and cleaning her up. When I brought her back, I inquired about her name and shots-she had neither. I told him that I would take her if he could no longer care for her........1 week later, she was mine:) I named her "Hollywood", and she became my best friend. However, I noticed instantly that her socialization needed work-she had lost those important months to learn how to be a good dog. Unfortunatly, she never really recovered from it. But...we packed up and moved to Alaska years later, and with a gentle hand, she has welcomed 6 new members of our pack!
