Mr. Bully Bear
I found my Bully on a long stretch of highway in rural Alabama in Feb. of 2009. He was sitting in the center lane and had traffic backed up half a mile, howling in pain. He was so happy when we came along and put him in the car. A vet examination showed he had been shot in the shoulder and suffered blunt force trauma to the head. He was underweight, untrained and about 1 year old. He has scars and one eye that was seperated at the lid that healed wrong due to the beatings he suffered. Unlike the killer reputation, he got along wonderfully with my 2 toy poodles. He has graduated from obedience class and has a wonderful temperment. He plays with my 7 pound poodle, Latte, and she will jump on his back and ride him like a horse! He is very affectionate with humans and dogs. He sleeps in the bed with me and the poodles every night. He goes on neighborhood walks with the lab next door. Anyone who thinks pits are inherently bad needs to spend one day with my Bully. Despite being shot, beaten and starved, he still is trusting and loving with everyone. I wish I knew more people that forgiving...
Thank you for that (sad beginning - happy ending) story! Your 'Bully' looks so much like my K-9 soulmate BG (Baby Girl). Until I rescued her from a kennel I was working at I also misunderstood pitties. But BG completely changed me! Pitties are the most loving breed you'll find. They are intelligent, sweet & loyal companions....to both people & other animals.
