Did you really come onto a site full of positive energy and support for pitbull owners and put someone else's dog is ugly? Why would you do that? I don't get it. Please do not make comments like that even if you were trying to be funny or sarcastic. It's hard to read between the lines even if being said to be funny. We are not members on this site to compete or belittle we are here to support eachother.
Your dog sounds like he is really cute! I'm sure he is a wonderful companion. You know, Cesar Milan has some great tips for dealing with overly aggressive dogs, especially Pit Bulls. If you go to his website or read any of his books, you might find some help training your dog (and yourself in the process!) how to be less aggressive. Guarding is a normal dog behavior, you don't have to do anything to get most dogs to guard, they just do it on their own. Almost any dog will "guard" without any training, so I'm not surprised to hear that your year old pit is exhibiting this instinctive, untrained behavior. They feel it's their job to protect the pack (you) from danger, so they instinctively bark at people, noises, whatever. This normal dog behavior can lead to aggression if you let it get out of hand. It may be time to sit down, do some research, and do some real training! My pit/German shepherd mix dog barks and 'guards' too. I didn't even have to train him to do it. He's only 6 months old and he's been doing it for a while. You might have to read a book (you can do it!) and work hard and your dog can lose that nasty aggressive streak. My dog has never been aggressive before, he gets along great with my blind cat. He is dark brown, almost black, and has one ear up and one ear down. He's awesome! People always comment about how attractive he is, or about how cute his ears are, but to me, it's his personality that matters. I'm sure you can relate to that as a fellow dog owner. Also, that first comment you posted didn't make alot of sense to me. People here are commenting about the adorable, stunningly attractive dogs in the pictures above. I think you may have intended to post your first comment under a picture of your face. It's an easy mistake, though, I'm sure anyone could have made it :) Have a great day! good luck training!
@rage -- I have a white pit with black rimmed blue eyes and he is gorgeous.(no he isn't deaf or blind). You shouldn't own a pit as a guard dog. It contributes to their bad image. As does the fact it would kill another male dog. Not trying to be rude or anything, Just saying it does. And you shouldn't call other peoples dogs ugly. I wouldn't call your dog ugly. All pit bulls are beautiful.
Awsome dogs! So big and handsome/pretty! I just adopted a little guy that was found on the side of the road. He came to live at a dog rescue and that's how I found him. His name is Tank, and he is still very young, maybe 5 or 6 weeks. I was just wondering, do you remember how much yours weighed when they were puppies. Tank is about 6 weeks and weighs 11lbs. Do you think it's impossible to know how big he will get? Yours are awsome! Glad they have such a responsible, loving mom like you!
thank you both so muchfor the comments!
...otis got his name from my brother, i really dont know where he got it from, but found out its an elevator brand..lol and Neela is short for neelakishi...but we never call her that. it means blue eyed girl, but her eyes changed to green later on...lol.
and i got otis at 2 months and he was the biggest puppy i really cant remember how much he weighed. but i wouldnt worry especially if your Tank is eating well and everything...he's just a baby still. and every dog/Pit is different in size and weight but he's adorable and will grow faster then you know it, so enjoy him as much as you can now! :]
