Teaching an old dog new tricks!
Any one owning a rescue Pit Bull who may have came from an awful situation, and still has old habits that do not die hard. This is the group to tell others what you did that worked to re-train your beloved pet and break those bad habits. Example, I have a male Pitbull/Sharpe mix, I have had him for five years. He came from a crack house back yard, had a broken jaw and was typically aggressive to scruffy looking white men, he was also very afraid of children, he is now wonderful with adults, children, and female dogs. He overcame his fear of children, he overcame his fear of white men, but i cant seem to break him of his doggy male dominance....
My female was starved, locked in a basement, she is friendly all the way around.. she overcame her fear of black men, she used to run in the other direction, she has also overcome her fear of the outdoors. But she still is so afraid of putting a harness, leash or collar on. She is potty trained but when i have to put a collar or harness on her, she hides under a table trembling and urinates out of fear.
Who ever may have similar issues please feel free to post about what the issue was and how you were able to break your pet of these things ...if you were able.
